No other act of worship has been praised in the hadith the way learning and reciting the Quran has been praised. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it" (Sahih al-Bukhari 5027). This single sentence makes teaching the Quran the best of deeds.
It will intercede for its companion. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Recite the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its people on the Day of Resurrection" (Sahih Muslim 804). On a day when every person will need intercession, the Quran itself will plead for those who recited it.
The proficient reciter is raised in rank. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The one who is proficient in the Quran will be with the noble, obedient scribes (the angels), and the one who recites the Quran and stumbles over it, finding it difficult, will have a double reward" (Sahih al-Bukhari 4937; Sahih Muslim 798).
It elevates its people. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah elevates some people with this book and humiliates others with it" (Sahih Muslim 817). The Quran raises in rank those who learn, recite and act upon it.
It is the best of remembrance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The best of you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it" (reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 5027), and he described the believer who recites the Quran as like a citron — its smell is pleasant and its taste is pleasant (Sahih al-Bukhari 5020; Sahih Muslim 797).
